Plateau and Mile End Brunch Locations

Places to eat Brunch in the Plateau and Mile end

The following is a map of brunch and breakfast places you can find in the Plateau and Mile End. I defined this area by the political riding from the city of Montreal. The southern most point is Sherbrooke, the west sides are University and Hutchison (once you’re north of Pine) with Iberville on the east end and Bernard at the northern tip. I have also included the McGill ghetto since it is rather close by and small.

The Plateau/Mile End offers many good and well priced options. Two of the main areas of concentration are Mount Royal and Bernard street. In some instances you can walk 10 feet in any direction and find a place to eat brunch. So take a look and see what you feel like. Also, if you feel I missed some places please feel free to comment by posting a reply.

Fire on the East Side (TO)

Hot meal ideas on your plate

The 411

On a recent trip to Toronto, two friends took me to one of their favorite brunch places. Now, my last time in Toronto had me searching for a brunch place with no success so I was so happy that someone had done the searching for me this time.

At 1st glance

Fire on the east side is nestled in a nice little area of Toronto with some parking space in the neighborhood. You will notice it by it’s fair sized terrace and when you walk in, you are drawn to its large bar and a well-spaced seating setup, blue-green walls and its funky iron Jesus art statue on the wall. The place also doubles as a club on the evening and although you do have to use the club washrooms and walk a distance when you get there you will be shocked to find how clean and spacious
they are. (more…)

Dans La Bouche

More bang for your buck

The 411

One of the best kept secrets in the East End: Dans La Bouche, a name you have likely never heard of before. It’s a nice place on Mont Royal in the East End. Dans La Bouche is a tapas bar during the day and night which offers a pretty good brunch 7 days a week. Oddly enough, it’s well known in certain circles among east-enders and people in Laval but ask any downtowner or west-ender and they will rarely know about it.

Orange Café

As sweet as its name

The 411

One of the better known brunch places in the West End, Orange Cafe has made a name for itself not only in NDG but across the city. Now having heard many good reviews of this place I had never actually been so you can imagine my excitement when two of my friend suggested that we go
there. What came after was quite the culinary experience.

At 1st glance

Once you walk up to Orange Cafe you wonder what is so special about this place since the front is not that assuming nor is the area in general. The inside is a simple setup of banquet seats and some tables, nothing fancy, although they do have wheelchair access which is a nice touch. (more…)
